The deep‑foundation works of the new Hotel Apartman on the Siófok waterfront required special engineering solutions due to the highly water‑saturated and variable soil conditions. We used the rarely applied Milan (top‑down) method to ensure the safe construction of the two‑level underground garage.

Main elements of the project:

We enclosed the excavation with a 217‑meter‑long, 65‑cm‑thick watertight diaphragm wall, which also carried the horizontal earth pressures of the final structure.
A key feature of the construction was that we built the reinforced concrete slab above level P2 before the full excavation. This slab acted as a Milan support slab, replacing temporary ground anchors.
After completing the slab, we carried out under‑excavation beneath it, followed by the construction of the approx. 2000 m² monolithic reinforced concrete foundation slab.
The entire process required continuous dewatering and special temporary support structures.
The project also included the construction of the final access ramp to the underground garage, which ensured proper logistical access even during the building phase.
