Hungary’s first tram‑train line includes approximately 22 kilometres of upgraded heavy‑rail track between Szeged and Hódmezővásárhely. The reconstruction of the affected railway section was carried out by Swietelsky Vasúttechnika Kft. on behalf of NIF Zrt.

In addition to the modernisation of the main railway line, the construction works also included the partial strengthening and refurbishment of the Algyő railway Tisza Bridge, the reconstruction of operational buildings at the railway service locations, and the installation of new signalling and safety systems.
